ACCELERATED OYAP – LEVEL 1 PROGRAMS
Level 1 – Accelerated OYAP Dual Credit Programs
Operates in partnership with Conestoga College. It’s offered in semester 2 only and for students wishing to jump start their apprenticeship while in high school.

Program Details
- Students must be registered as an OYAP apprentice and be employed with an employer in the skilled trade prior to the start of program. This is the responsibility of the student.
- Students will earn apprenticeship hours through Co-op and complete Level 1 in school training for their trade through Conestoga College.
- Students will earn up to (2) secondary credits for successful completion of the Level 1 in school training portion and (2) Co-op credits.
- There are limited spots available. Students who truly wish to pursue a career in the trades above should apply. This is a highly competitive program!

- All Level 1 Dual Credit programs require a pass mark of 70% in every college course out of the package of courses for a high school Dual Credit to be granted.
- Grade 12+ students who have earned an OSSD must speak to their guidance counsellor to confirm eligibility.

This unique program gives students the opportunity to:
- Jump start a career in the skilled trades toward apprenticeship training.
- Explore potential careers in an apprenticeship trade.
- Gain important connections with potential employers.
- Obtain important health and safety training.
- Acquire technical training in up-to-date community facilities.
- Develop an understanding of employer expectations.
- Increase confidence and self-reliance.
- Make a smooth transition into post-secondary apprenticeship programs.
- Fulfills SHSM program requirements.
Students Must:
- Undergo an interview with Conestoga College, be at least 15 years of age, and enrolled in school full time.
- Note – students must be 16 years of age to participate in a construction sector trade and to work on a construction worksite.
- Have earned 26 credits.
- Be on track to graduate in June or are a returning graduated student.
- Complete the Co-op Program Selection Form, Parent & Student Information Consent/Contract Form and Student Readiness Form.
- Have their own transportation. Many OYAP placements are not on a bus route and can be at different locations throughout the program.
- Student must have a Registered Training Agreement (RTA) with an employer sponsor prior to acceptance into the program.
- Acquiring a Registered Training Agreement (RTA) through Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) is the responsibility of the student.
Desirable assets:
- Complete a corresponding Grade 12 Technology course.
- Complete, at minimum, the Gr. 12 Tech Math course.
- Previous work experience in the skilled trades field.
