ACCELERATED OYAP
The Accelerated OYAP programs are offered in partnership with Conestoga College and 4 local trade Unions: The Plumbing and Pipefitters Union UA527; Carpenters Union Local 785; and IBEW Local 804.
These programs provide secondary students with the opportunity to jump start their apprenticeship while in high school, which includes tuition-free college courses in the chosen program.
Each of these programs are highly competitive. Limited spots are available. Students who truly wish to pursue a career in the specific trades below should apply. Access to these programs are based on student readiness and program availability.
Level 1 – Accelerated OYAP Dual Credit Programs with Conestoga College
- Auto Service Technician
- Truck and Coach Technician
- Brick and Stone Mason
- Precision Machining
- Plumbing
- HVAC – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
- General Carpentry
- Electrician
Important Note: Students must be signed on as an apprentice with an employer to participate in any Accelerated OYAP Level 1 programs. Securing an apprenticeship must be arranged and finalized by the student.
All Level 1 Dual Credit Programs require a pass mark of 70% in every college course out of the package of courses for a Dual Credit to be granted. For more program information see Additional Details below

Additional Details For Each Program
Who should apply?
To be eligible for Accelerated OYAP, the student must:
- Have 26 secondary school credits with all compulsory credits and SHSM certifications(if applicable) completed by the end of semester 1 of Grade 12.
- Be on track to graduate.
- Have completed the related senior level technology and math courses.
- Have some experience in the related skilled trade field of work. (Ex. construction work experience if you wish to pursue an electrical apprenticeship)
- Prior co-op or part-time work experience is a plus.
- Supply their own transportation.
